New From Grammy and Aunt Kathy

Just a quick note to catch you up on what's new with Grammy and Aunt Kathy. Did you catch it? Well that's about it - Nothing!

Actually we've been working hard organizing and reorganing closets and the garage to increase areas for food storage and 72-hour kits. As a result we've been busy sending a myriad of things to the DI or garabage. It's amazing what we've aquired over the years and don't use.

Aunt Kathy boxed up her rocks and science stuff this week to give to Angelene Israelsen. It was a hard decision, but she felt they didn't do kids any good stored in her bedroom. Angelene is thrilled to have them for her fifth grade classroom. Aunt Kathy did keep the rocks Jae and Ellee wanted. She also kept her "toys" that the grandchildren love to play with.

We've started having FHE with Uncle Lionel and Aunt Emma's family, Chad and Jeanne, and Doug and Tonia twice a month. This past Monday we carved pumpkins and listened to reports about trips to Florida and Idaho. It seems that all who could go had a grand time and found those who couldn't go safe and sound upon their return. We've posted a picture of "the boys" playing a game during our first FHE.

Gabe is enjoying preschool with Aunt Kathy twice a week while his mother attends classes at Bridgerland. This week he learned about the letter "g," number "zero," and opposites. He is quite eager to learn and catches on quickly. While practicing "opposites," Aunt Kathy showed him a pair of shoes in a shoebox and asked, "What is the opposite of 'in'?" After careful consideration he answered, "Sold!"

Grandma Edith continues to have treatment for her cancer. She has two people who work with her regularly, one a short woman with long dark straight hair; the other, a tall man with short dark wavey hair. During a treatment this week a shorter man with dark wavey hair entered her room. Thinking he looked an aweful lot like the tall man with short dark wavey hair, she asked if they were related. The man smiled and replied, "We are closely related. In fact we are the same man, me." Surprised, Grandma said, "But you don't look as tall as you used to." He responded by saying, "That's because we raised your bed." What a good sport to be able to laugh at yourself and share it with others!

We pray for each of you daily and look forward to phone calles, e-mails, and Hogan-blogs.

Love,

Grammy and Aunt Kathy
