I am a "rent"!

Hello,
I would like to introduce myself.  I am one of the "rents" referred to in the blog posted below.  For those of you who are not up on the teen slang, you may have guessed that "rent" is short for parent.  Jaelyn came home the first day from school  in tears reporting that she hated the new school the kids, the teachers and the who thing.  I have to say that it would be very foreign to have the majority of my peers "cross" themselves and repeat scripted prayers.  I was very impressed with the Principal who told Jae that this group was in no way going to pressure or corner her into participating.  He did encourage her to say her own prayer in her own fashion at the beginning of her daily religion class while the others "cross" themselves and repeat scripted prayers.  The focus of the religion class is to discuss christian ethics and moral issues mixed with some education on Catholicism.  The Principal further explained that she did not have to feel required to participate in Mass, just sit quietly, and be respectful for the 50 minutes.  In our opinion as "rents" we believe that the life lessons and extremely high academic expectations far outweigh what she has been getting in public school.   If I would have understood this earlier, Jae would have been in private school a long time ago.  She reports that she cannot chew gum on school property or possess her cell phone on her person during school hours, even in her pocket.  Sounds like good discipline and respect, mixed with  good christian values is being served up and we are all for it.  We are in the process of working Jae's schedule so that she can attend Seminary 1st hour and German 2nd hour at Richland High School and then go to Tri- Cities Prep the rest of the day.  The seminary teacher at Richland is our home teacher!  The second and third day of school have seemed better than the first so we remain hopeful.  Time will tell.  The school mascot is a Jaguar, so...Go Jae and Go Jags!!!

CONGRATULATIONS TONIC AND DUB

This is Mom (Penni).  Just wanted to tell Tonia And Doug that I wish I could have been there yesterday for the festivities.  It looks like everything went according to plan and everybody said "yes" or I "I do" or whatever it is they say nowadays.  I want you both to know that I am proud of you and excited that you have made the decision to get married.  We look forward to seeing you next month and hope that you are feeling good and healthy Tonia.  I love you both and Doug make sure that you take good care of Tonia during the next few months.  She needs your help and loving care.  Be happy together and love each other and remember the three most important words you can say to keep your marriage strong Doug is "you're absolutely right."

I am here

Hi everybody
,Janne,Chad,tonna,dub,grammy,kathy

 im on the blog naw.

Who's that?

The next time you see me you might now recognize me...I've got zuchinni "coming out my ears", I'm nearly bald "from pulling my hair out" trying to teach Eric how to drive the van (after one sort of ok attempt and one nearly died of fear and shock attempt we switched to dad's truck and it's going much better!), and a huge grin on my face because "the most wonderful time of the year" (the start of the school year) is just around the corner and I can finally have some time to do all the things I planned on doing over the summer because I thought I'd have all kinds of time on my hands!! I realized last night as I was headed out the door for Saturday night's session of Stake Conference just how busy I've really been when Rachel said "now, is this a community meeting, a presidency meeting, an enrichment meeting, a church meeting or some other kind of meeting you're going to?" I just laughed and decided somehow the meetings have taken over! Oh well, some day this too shall be a memory!! Hope you're all doing well. This is really fun to read what everyone's been upto. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week.

Going to the Doctor

If you click on the image it will enlarge it.  Ellee Jo says the funniest things.  She has been watching Penni fill out a lot of medical forms.  You can see that she has created her own form.

Wedding

I thought you might be interested in some of the pictures from the wedding today. It was a beautiful day for a wedding. It was held outdoors at the church that we held Great-Grandma Israelsen's 100th birthday celebration. The Bishop who performed the wedding was from a University Ward. He asked Doug what the 3 most important words in marriage were. Doug said "I love you". Bishop said "No, it is 'You're probably right'". He counseled them to set a goal to be married in the temple one year from now.

I was so impressed with Jeanne's outfit. It was a lovely white skirt, modest length and a beautiful blue blouse. She will be able to wear both frequently in the future unlike some of the clothes that are used during weddings.
Tania got a little teary during the ceremony and it made Doug a little worried I think. He leaned over and asked if she was okay. When I went through the line, she said, "I really didn't expect to cry!"

EFY

EFY was pretty exciting this year. I met some really cool people. I just got back from Seattle with the others and while I was there I had the chance to go see two of the people I came close to at EFY. It was so much fun. They are great. When I spent the night at Kelsey's on Saturday night we went out to sleep on the trampoline and woke up to thunder and lightening and RAIN!! It was crazy but so much fun. The next day we went to church and Josh was there again and we hung out there. After church I had to say goodbye and then ride home from Seattle. If you guys wanna know any more about EFY ask me because Idk what else to write and I dont wanna write everything on here. So hit me up if you want more info.
Love you all lots!! I MISS YOU JEANNE and CHAD!!

AARGH!

I can't figure this out...I had much more to my post "Seattle" but somehow it got totally cut short and now I'm frustrated. So, just know that it was wonderful and we were so happy to be able to go. We missed those of you who were not able to be there. Hopefully, we'll be able to see you again the "not too distant future".

Seattle

We had the best time with Grammy, Uncle Roy's family and Aunt Karen's family this weekend for Kristena and Shaun Coleman's wedding. I'm really really really glad we got to go.

Still Learning

Evidently I placed my post as a comment to Chad & Jeanne's last letter. Hello! The only thing new this week is that Grammy is in Washington with the family attending Kris' wedding. According to Ellee she flew in on a seagull. We'll have to wait and see how she gets home on Sunday.

The highlight of Grammy and my week was the Cache County Fair. We watched the Israelsen grandchildren show their sheep, pigs, and cows. Julia received "Grand Champion" for her pig. Each of the kids placed at some point, including little James. Lynn ditched work and spent the day with us. He was soooo excited to see the animals, walk around, and of course eat!Friday night Grammy and I returned for the rodeo. Uncle Dale and Aunt Evelyn sat a few rows behind us. Rachel sat with us and then came home for a "sleepover." She is struggling with post-mission "now what do I do with myself." It was fun to have her with us.

This week has been busy getting Grammy ready to go to Washington. I finally finished an afaghan for Max. Luckily it's been too hot for him to have missed it much.

A few weeks ago, I fell asleep while watching a show about a family being sent to a Japaneese internment camp. In turn, I dreamt that Grandpa Bud came and told Grammy and I to hurry and pack a single bag, for we would be leaving in just a few minutes. I quickly packed clothes. Then realized I could probably do wash, so took some clothes out and added a couple of books and some science toys - never know when you might need those. After arriving to our destination (I never did figure that part out), I opened my bag. As I did, the thought came to me, "You didn't pack your family history, therefore you have nothing." I immediately woke-up and went to my computer and recommitted myself to researching our Allen/Renner line. I believe many are ready as I have found many names that have previously elluded me. I even found Grandma Renner as a five year old in the 1820 census.Sorry this was so long, but enjoyed sharing with you. We love you,Grammy and Aunt Kathy

Their tire blew out on their trailer going down the freeway and... DA da da da! SUPER CHAD to the rescuse!!!!!!!!!! I drove to Toole to change a tire however it was full of water when we got the water out of the spare, and on the trailer the tire was too wide. so DA da da pfffffff! we drove back home at midnight :( we did get the tire fixed the next day and because i didn't go to work due to lack of sleep we went back down to Toole slapped everthing together in five minutes and drove back. Needless to say I enjoyed the scenery and the stinky Great Salt Lake, and the five minutes we were in Toole.

Family Pictures

Here is the family picture that we took in April.  After our latest visit to Utah it looks like we need to take an updated picture that includes our "big" kids!

Bear Lake

On Saturday the 26h of July we went to Bear Lake.  We spent the afternoon out on the lake taking turns on the Seadoo!  The water was warm and the sun wasn't too hot. After we were done on the lake we headed over to Le Beau's for fresh shakes!  The drive through the canyon was slow and easy and beautiful as ever.

The Twin Falls Temple

On Saturday August 2nd we traveled to Twin Falls Idaho to attend the open house.  It was absolutely amazing to be there with all of our family members.  The spirit was so strong and I cannot wait to see each member of my family gather together all dressed in white in the Celestial Room.  After the tour we went to Chili's for dinner.  We had a great time chatting and making plans for the future.  At last it was time to part ways.  Jaelyn, Jeanne, Chad, Doug and Tonia headed south to Logan.  Mom, Dad and Ellee Jo headed north to Washington.  I found myself feeling kind of sad as we dove down the freeway.  It had been a spectacular week spending time together as a family.  I can't wait until we can be together again.  Love you guys!!
